At the prestigious Asian Para Games 2023 held in Hangzhou, China, the Vietnamese chess team showcased outstanding talent and strategy, resulting in a commendable haul of medals.

On the memorable day of October 26, the dedicated chess players from Vietnam clinched five esteemed silver and two notable bronze medals, demonstrating their prowess in the intricate game of chess. Here’s a breakdown of their achievements:

In an intense match, Pham Thi Huong emerged victorious against her opponent, Rathi Himanshi Bhaveshkumar from India. Her strategic gameplay awarded her a well-deserved silver medal.

Demonstrating immense skill and concentration, Le Van Viet secured another silver medal for Vietnam with an impressive score of 5.5 points.

Team events also saw Vietnam shining brightly:

In the women’s team category, the trio of Pham Thi Huong, Dao Thi Le Xuan, and Tran Ngoc Lan combined their strengths to clinch a bronze medal.

The men’s team, comprising Le Van Viet, Dinh Tuan Son, and Dao Tuan Kiet, displayed excellent teamwork and coordination, earning them a bronze medal.

Another women’s team, featuring the talents of Doan Thu Huyen, Nguyen Thi Kieu, and Tran Thi Bich Thuy, secured a bronze medal, adding to Vietnam’s medal tally.

In addition to these team achievements, Doan Thu Huyen showcased her individual brilliance by winning a bronze medal. Another commendable performance was seen by the team of Nguyen Thi Hong, Nguyen Thi Minh Thu, and Nguyen Thi My Linh, who added yet another bronze medal to Vietnam’s collection.

By the afternoon of October 26, with the combined efforts of all its athletes, Vietnam proudly stood at the 22nd position in the overall medal tally of the Games, boasting six silver and five bronze medals. This achievement is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and talent of the Vietnamese athletes.
